WHAT IS CLIMATE CHANGE?
Have you been noticing a lot of talk about climate change but you are not sure how it affects you personally? Are you wondering what is climate change? Do you recycle and want to do more to live a more sustainable life but don’t know what else you can do? Do you want to know what your community and local government are doing for global warming? Do you have high energy cost and want to learn ways to decrease them? Have you noticed increased rain and more severe storms in the Greater Cincinnati area?
WELCOME TO THE TOGETHER AS ONE JB PODCAST
We will answer all of these questions and more!
The first season is focusing on climate change in the Greater Cincinnati area, we venture out to the different neighborhoods to interview local citizens to learn their awareness on global warming. Our guests include non-profits and city leaders to learn the causes of climate change and the local government’s climate change adaptation plan. We talk to local businesses to learn about their sustainable practices and solutions to climate change. Also we will learn sustainable living tips from climate change adaptation programs.
Even though we live in the Midwest which is considered a safe haven to the effects of climate change, we are being affected. There has been increased flooding, intense heat, changes in the seasons, higher food costs, and landslides.
A LITTLE ABOUT OUR GUESTS
Our guests include Larry Falkin, director of the Office of Environment Sustainability for the City of Cincinnati, and he explains the effects of climate change to the Greater Cincinnati area. Learn how you can prepare yourself from the causes of heavy rainfall and extreme heat. We also chat with Ryan Mooney - Bullock the director of Green Umbrella where she explains what is climate change and why it is happening. Green Umbrella is an non-profit that is an umbrella for green organizations. It has seven action teams where they work with other organizations to meet their goals for green living. See links below to learn more about our guests.
VOICES OF OUR COMMUNITY
To have a community perspective, I interview citizens from Findley Market and Bloc Coffee in the west side to learn what they know about climate change and their opinion on what the city should be doing. It was very interesting to hear the many ideas of what is climate change and if this area is being affected.
